History

Evolution Capital was formed in 2003 by Nigel Cook, an industry expert with 20 years of senior experience in IT, with the specific aim of delivering specialist corporate finance advice for the technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) sector.

  • 2003

    • Nigel Cook establishes Evolution Capital.
    • Shareholders of Pipemedia and Virtue Broadcasting become our first clients.
    • Team completes first transaction advising the shareholders of Virtue Broadcasting with disposal to Interoute.
  • 2004

    • Grahame Purvis, former managing director of Mercury, C&W main board member and founder of Zipcom/Pipex, joins the team.
    • Establishes partnerships with RBS, Coutts and Child & Co private bank.
  • 2005

    • Launches MaxEx networking programme for business owners at Child & Co private bank.
    • London office moves to Adam Street WC2.
    • Develops M&A programmes for Adept, Nine, XLN, Spiritel & BNS.
    • Advises AdEPT with first acquisition.
  • 2006

    • Advises Spiritel with first acquisition.
    • First entrepreneurs ‘Grand tour’ to Le Mans.
    • Advises Nine with first acquisition.
  • 2008

    • Alliance Bernstein chooses Evolution Capital as partner and launches wealth management service in the UK.
    • Advises XLN with first acquisition.
  • 2009

    Advises management team of SPC
    with fundraising.

  • 2010

    • Advises shareholders of Crompton Technology with disposal.
  • 2011

    • Advises Arrow Communications with first acquisition.
  • 2012

    • Nick Foster joins the team as associate legal advisor.
  • 2013

    • Glen Thomas joins the team as associate
      tax advisor.
    • Duncan Gregory, former partner and head of transaction services at BDO/Moore Stephens, joins the team.
  • 2014

    • Team launch new value improvement programme (VIP) for TMT entrepreneurs and team complete first sector strategic review.
    • Team implement phase 2 M&A programme
      for AdEPT.
  • 2015

    • London office moves to Dover Street, Mayfair W1.
  • 2016

    • Centrix/AdEPT deal of 2015 nominated ‘Deal of the year’ AIM stock exchange.
    • Advises shareholders of Insite with disposal to 6DG.
    • Advises shareholders of Lanway with disposal to Chess.
  • 2017

    • Team conference in Monza and F1 experience.
  • 2018

    • Southern office moves to Chichester, West Sussex.
    • Gary Smith joins team to head up sell-side business.
    • Advises AdEPT with 24th acquisition of Shift F7.
    • AdEPT share price breaks £4.00 from engagement commencement of >£1.00.
    • Team conference in Singapore and F1 experience.
